Teasing Your Man’s Senses

Valentine’s Day is considered a day for love; unless you are newly single, then it might be the day of drunk texting your ex. (Hopefully that won’t be you.)

This year ladies, don’t put all of the pressure on your man to make the day romantic; instead make your man feel special while setting the mood for love too.

Teasing the five senses (taste, touch, sound, sight, and smell) can really enhance things for a sexy night. Some senses are easier to arouse than others. For example, to stimulate his taste, cook his favorite meal, or order it take out; touch, massage him in a warm drawn bubble bath; sound, turn on a little Luther Vandross if you are old school or for me a little Trey Songs does the trick; and sight, pull out that little lace number you only wear when you need a really BIG favor. Smell can be a little tricky to master, so keep on reading. I’ve got you covered.

AskMen.com complied the top fragrances that can get more than just your man’s nose standing at attention, if you know what I mean. I have also added in a few tips of my own that I have tested and personally approved. Boy did they work!

  1. The Scent: Vanilla
It has long been believed that vanilla is a natural aphrodisiac: as early as the 1700s, physicians recommended it to male patients to ensure potency. Guys say the sweet, welcoming odor has a euphoric effect that sets the sensual mood. So ladies, find anything vanilla scented you can get your hands on, candles, body lotions, bath salts, even try spraying the sheets with a vanilla scented linen spray. Also a man loves a woman who bakes. Try baking vanilla cupcakes made with real vanilla bean. None of that imitation vanilla stuff. It won’t be potent enough for the scent to linger. Last but not least, if you get that late night booty call and can’t make it to the store, dab a little vanilla extract behind each ear and go for it. Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures!
  2. The Scent: Doughnuts
Who does not love a good doughnut? This sweet treat increases arousal in more than 30 percent of men studied by the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation. I have to admit that I have a wicked relationship with Krispy Kreme doughnuts. If you have ever had one you totally understand what I mean. This one I tested out myself to see if a doughnut could do the arousal trick. So I went down to my husband’s office. It was a quick drive by; he had no idea I was as coming. I showed up looking super cute with a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts in my bag. Walked in his office and he immediately asked, “What’s that smell?” So I whipped out the doughnuts, came across his desk and hand fed him one doughnut, slowly wiped his mouth with a napkin, closed the box and left. No lie. My husband was left work early and was home within the hour (and that was with traffic). Try it ladies. Doughnuts can be our friends in more ways than one.
  3. The Scent: Pumpkin Pie
The scent of pumpkin pie (especially when combined with the smell of lavender) increased arousal in 40 percent of men.  It has been theorized that the men in the study may have reacted to the vanilla and cinnamon in the pumpkin pie, both of which have been claimed to have aphrodisiac qualities. The study mentioned pumpkin pie, however, I am more of a sweet potato pie girl myself. Either way, you just want to fill the house with the smell, so throw a frozen pumpkin pie or a Ms. Patti Labelle pie in the oven and let your man follow the scent. Hopefully after all is said and done, he will be eating more than just that pumpkin pie .
  4. The Scent: Popcorn
That’s right! Movie night just got a whole lot sexier! Turns out, men are incredibly turned on by the scent of this salty and crunchy snack. This is the time to really capitalize on Netflix night. Pick a movie you don’t actually want to see and keep the popcorn flowing with extra butter. Just keep in mind: things could get finger licking good.
  5. The Scent: Chocolate
Calling all chocoholics! Of course chocolate is on the list. Men LOVE chocolate! Drive him wild by actually SMELLING and TASTING like it. You could surprise him with chocolate flavored edible undies, or paint yourself with melted chocolate (Nutella is my preference). Dark, milk, white, or spicy– either way give yourself permission to create a sexy chocolaty mess!

Now you have the game plan to get your sexy sniffing on this Valentine’s Day. Be safe, have fun, and continue to do special deeds throughout the year for the one you love.
