How to Stand Out & Look Great at a Party

I go to a lot of parties. I plan a lot of parties. I have seen the good, the bad, and the Oh hell NO! When it comes to what to wear, I’ve picked up a few tips and here they are for you.
First of all, come dressed to party! Don’t just wear a boring outfit with solid drab colors. Bring in some color and be daring. Old T-shirts and ripped jeans say you are ready to get drunk and pass out, not mingle and have a good time at a party.

Tip #1: Always wear at least one great accessory. For ladies wear a beautiful necklace or earrings that people will notice. This makes for a real conversation piece. Gentlemen, wear a fabulous tie or a lapel pen that folks will notice.
If you are at a loss for things to talk about, when in doubt, give compliments to someone else’s great look. People love compliments and talking about themselves.

Tip#2: Wear comfortable yet cute shoes. I am all about looking fierce; however, it is impossible to have a good time with aching feet. If you know you will be on your feet all night compromise for a more comfortable shoe. You will thank me later. If you do suffer from hurt feet at a party, do not be the person walking around with bare feet. Do what I do, and stick your feet underneath a cloth covered table and kick off your shoes. That way, your feet get a breather and no one knows.

Tip#3: When getting dressed for a party, you have to consider accidents do happen. Bright colors are great, but consider mixing with darker colors that won’t show a food or drink stain from spills. I always ask the host ahead of time what is on the menu for the evening. If BBQ ribs are being served, you may want to save your white pants suit for some other occasion. Also, bring a jacket or scarf to cover up any accidental messes.

Tip#4: Try to wear something that has same stretch to it. As you eat and drink, you don’t want to be uncomfortable in a shirt riding up or a dress showing bulges in the wrong places.

Finally, eat a little something before you go out so that you are not devouring everything in sight. Also, drink responsibly. Being the drunk of the party does not make you the life of the party just the party joke. Most importantly, remember to have fun!
